Carpatair

    About Carpatair
Carpatair is the largest regional airline in Eastern Europe, based in Timisoara, Romania. It operates services to 29 destinations in 7 countries. Its main hub is Traian Vuia International Airport, Timisoara, and has a secondary hub at Cluj-Napoca International Airport.
Carpatair has various ticketing agreements with major airlines, such as KLM, Lufthansa and Air France.

History
Carpatair was established in 1999 and started operations in February 1999 in Cluj-Napoca. It was formed as Veg Air operating one leased Yakovlev Yak-40 from Moldavian Airlines. The present title was adopted in December 1999 when Swiss investors joined the company. The airline is owned by Romanian shareholders (51%) and SC Veg Invest (49%). It employs over 400 staff. The current CEO of Carpatair is Nicolae Petrov.
Because it was one of the first airlines to fly internationally from Transylvania, it has been very successful in that it has not received much competition from other airlines. It is growing in terms of market share against TAROM and is the second-largest Romanian airline.

News
Carpatair's flights between Budapest and Cluj-Napoca are operated by Carpatair aircraft Saab 2000 and code-shared with Malév Hungarian Airlines.
Carpatair routes expansion in 2006 started with its first destination to Ukraine - Lviv. As of January 23, the city is connected to the Timisoara hub and, through connecting flights, to all of the German and Italian destinations. The flight is operated by a modern 50-seat Saab 2000.
Starting May 2006 Carpatair is operating at Charles de Gaulle International Airport, with 3 flights a week from Timisoara to Paris. The next two destinations for Carpatair in 2006 will be London (postponed until 2007) and Barcelona.
